The GI JOE Stop-Motion Film Festival is back in 2008, and like the return of a dear friend, we couldn't be happier about it. The Festival offers filmgoers a wealth of international cinematic fare all in stop-motion fashion. On October 9th 2008, the 2nd Edition of the GI JOE FEST will present an exciting array of contemporary narrative, documentary and short films from emerging and veteran filmmakers, as well as a few classic films.

Our deadline is July 20th 2008.

West Coast Tour - 2008

Our next and final stop for our 2008 Tour will be in Seattle, WA at the Grand Illusion Cinema on May 15th 2008. There will be 3 screenings that night, along with collectibles giveaway and the chance to meet some of the filmmakers.

or contact Spenser at info@grandillusioncinema.org

In another note, our screening at the Hollywood Theatre in Portland , was better than expected, thanks to Richard Beer (artistic director) and the folks at the Portland Mercury and Willamette Week. This "almost" packed Oregonian theater was saluted with plenty of gunfire, tiny exploding heads and a lasting feeling of satisfaction. Fantastic!

Hollywood Theatre - Portland 2008

We are currently touring the United States West Coast with 15 winning films from last years' Festival.

We will be in Portland April 10th 2008, 7:00PM at the Hollywood Theatre (www.hollywoodtheatre.org).

For our Oregon screening we chose the Hollywood Theatre (run by Artistic Director Richard Beer) because this Movie House propagates the beauty of Do-It-Yourself (DIY) Film making; offering workshops and microcinema screenings to the public. To me that's the main attribute of the films screened at our Festival. Pretty simple choice it was. We will have collectibles giveaway, including rare 12" Figures.

Echo Park Film Center - Los Angeles 2008

On March 29th 2008, we had a packed-house for the Los Angeles screening of the GI JOE FEST. "The screening was a splendid success! Thanks again for a great night... " said Paolo Davanzo, owner and founder of The Echo Park Film Center. "We had a very enthusiastic crowd in attendance (including some filmmakers: Charles Doran, Jeff Gurwood and Anthony Carbone) and everyone really enjoyed the films and the raffle prizes... there was a lot of hooting and hollering all evening!"

This is precisely the sort of event that keeps us going. I thank all the GI JOE FEST filmmakers for still dreaming of GI JOE.
